Signature “Skin” Textures

Rooted in the designer’s experience in oil painting and inspired by traditional goldsmithing’s exploration of metal, surface, and light, LaS treats metal as a canvas. Rather than layering ornamentation, LaS uses handcrafting techniques such as hammering, engraving, cutting, melting, and polishing, allowing expansive areas of metal to hold and frame the details of the work.

By revealing the metal’s natural texture and luminosity, LaS has developed its own distinctive six signature “Skin” textures that have become one of the most recognizable elements of the brand’s aesthetic.

Inspired by the softness of sand beneath the fingertips, hand-sanding creates a fine, even grain across the metal surface, revealing a warm, understated glow.

Inspired by the layered surface of classical mosaic inlay, high-temperature melting and cooling create natural folds and relief-like granules across the metal, revealing rich depth and texture.

Hand-engraved with intersecting linear marks, the delicate grooves extend like a natural fingerprint, merging the trace of the craftsman's hand with the character of metal.

Hand-carved and cut into intersecting lines, the layered marks catch and reflect light, creating shifting contrasts of reflection and sculptural shadow.

Inspired by the delicate folds of crumpled gold leaf, hand-hammering and engraving create a naturally undulating surface, where light breaks into fine, shimmering fragments.

Inspired by moonlight shimmering across water, a specialized finish creates a soft, fluid interplay of light and shadow across the metal surface.
